The mutant vampire Emplate latches onto his prey in a dark alley, ready to sup before Bishop leaps into action. The two battle in the street, Emplate gaining the upper hand before pausing mid-air, caught in a time bubble. An older Tempus walks out of the shadow, and recruits Bishop for a mission, moving them both to the far future to meet Cable in Salvation Bay. She informs them of the threat: Vacuna, the Children of the Vault's latest scheme against mutant kind, a being who sniffs out sensitive periods of mutant history and eats them. She hopes they can slow him down enough that she can trap him in a chronal bubble with herself, though the men say they will find another way. After gearing up with weapons and timesliders, Cable and Bishop head to the not-so-distant past and witness Vacuna consume the Dark Phoenix as she battles the X-Men, noting that the lineup has been altered from the way they remembered it. As Vacuna sets his sights on them, Bishop slides them to the future, where an adult Bronze of the X-Men saves them from a War-Lock drone, servant of Revelation. She shows them a list of events that led to her dystopia, inviting them to go back and fix things. They're timesliders' sensors warning of Vacuna's arrival, and Cable moves them to ancient Egypt, bringing Vacuna to Apocalypse's door. They attack him, but he regurgitates time back at them, sending them to the eve of Genoshan extinction. Evading a crashing Sentinel fist flying towards Magneto's tower, Cable and Bishop end up in each other's histories. Cable witnesses Bishop helping his sister Shard away from the corrupt XSE, while Bishop lands in a war zone between Cable and Stryfe's forces. They rendezvous in Chile, on the night that they first defeated the Children of the Vault. Vacuna finds them here and they fight to hold him as he begins to consume the moment. Tempus comes in and catches Vacuna in a time bubble, and the group timeslides the killer to the Children's Creche at the time of his gestation, freeing him to consume himself and restore the timeline. Bringing everyone back to the present, Tempus leaves Cable and Bishop to take in Emplate and engage in some target practice.
