Wonder Woman: "The Battle for Eternal Youth"
A girl called Roba is used by a gang of criminals to discover the location of the Fountain of Youth. She is taken to the island of the Amazons when Wonder Woman accidentally strikes her in a swimming pool. While Hippolyta and Wonder Woman are alone on a beach she captures them using the Lasso, and places a Venus Girdle on Wonder Woman meaning she must obey her, after hearing they have both been called Wonder Woman by Hippolyta, as they are both wearing identical clothing, she thinks they are twins who take each other's place. She hides the Girdle under a scarf, binds and blindfolds Hippolyta, gags her with a rock and cloth, and leaves with Wonder Woman, taking her to Reform Island. Hippolyta is able to crush the rock that gags her and get other Amazons for help. Wonder Woman is bound with the lasso with the criminals about to kill her with helicopter blades, but Roba unties her and Wonder Woman defeats the crooks.
| StoryTitle2 = Flash: "The Race through Time" | Synopsis2 = Jay Garrick is at the Annual Meeting of the Liar’s Club and decides to regale them with a tall-tale about the Flash, wherein he runs through *time itself*!
Some months ago, a crazy old mad scientist created a serum to accelerate muscle reaction and motor controls, only to have it stolen at gunpoint by fugitive gangster and **evil bald man**, “Tag” Madden. Having necked it down, he found that he was seemingly *as fast as the Flash*! The Flash, moving at super-speed, didn’t even notice him leaving. The old man had a breakdown about how he’d doomed the world, but the Flash insisted that he’d stop him and that he was more experienced with super-speed, so he’d probably win. In the process of chasing him, the Flash and Tag Madden ran counterclockwise to the Earth’s rotation… which enables them to **travel back in time**. They soon found themselves in Pre-Colonial America and accidentally got involved by throwing Powhatan’s daughter, Pocahontas, atop Capt. John Smith before Powhatan could kill him. The Flash quickly disarmed him and the Flash soon ran off to the time of William Shakespeare, who had all his folios dumped on the ground when Tag ran into him. The Flash asked if he used shorthand while writing plays like *The Merchant of Venice*, but Shakespeare points out *he hadn’t written that one yet* and demands to know what shorthand is or he won’t tell him where Tag went. Naturally, the Flash was forced to take a full hour to teach William Shakespeare the basic principles of shorthand, then **carried him back in time one hour** to save time and then received the directions. Soon, he raced after Tag Madden and found him hiding in **Jericho**, which was being attacked by the Israelites, led by Joshua (who are dressed like Romans?) as **the Flash destroyed the walls of Jericho with a single ax to get to Tag Madden**. At top speed, the Flash managed to throw Tag Madden through a tree trunk like a bit of straw in a hurricane.
One of the Liars asks if this story is getting done soon, but the Flash says that he hasn’t explained how they also **built the Alps**. He quickly explains that the Flash and Tag basically got into a rock throwing fight that built the entire Alpine Ridge. The Flash soon chased Tag to Baghdad in Ancient Mesopotamia and their movements were so fast, that a man’s carpet let him fly, making him think it’s a “flying carpet.” He soon chased Tag into the future, where the Earth will be a bleak wasteland of ice, then found the Sun dying as a red giant. Some bald triangular-headed future people consulted them by blasting them with a Gravity Ray to drag them underground and confirm that Earth is dying because the Sun is out of heat and also resources are scarce too. They have a big machine that will send them via radio beam to a planet that isn’t dying and the Flash and Tag Madden are moved enough to call a truce for now to help out the residents of the Dying Earth. One of them mentions that the Earth would be *really* powerful is they could tap into its geothermal power and offers that they can drop a pipe directly into the center of the Earth. They soon dig a hole to get to the Earth’s core and drop the pipe into it, only for Tag to decide to throw the Flash into lava. The Flash is able to spin himself fast enough that it creates a vacuum that sucks him into the pipe and emerges out of the top of the pipe. Using this pipe, the Future People are able to charge up their ark to a New Earth and leave forever. Tag begs not to be left abandoned there as the last man on Earth and promises to return. The Flash takes him back to the scientist it all began with and says that Tag will have to sweat out the chemical and then he’s going to jail.
As usual, Jay Garrick is named Champion Liar at the Liar’s Club… resisting telling them that he’s the Flash.

| Notes = * Published bi-monthly by National Comics Publications, Inc. This 76-page magazine sold for fifteen cents a copy, in an era when almost all other comics were 64 pages, for ten cents. * "Mister Nobody" appears in this issue, and his real name is not given. Justice League of America Vol 1 116 retroactively established Nobody as an alias of Johnny Peril), making this his first appearance. The identity of the elderly lady is left to the reader's imagination. She can be a djinn, an angel or even the Fairy Godmother. | Trivia = * Wonder Woman's story: ** The first name of the character Roba Jewel means "to steal" in Spanish. The end of the story implies that Roba became permanently one of the Amazons, living in Paradise Island. * Flash's story: ** The story mentions that Joshua rose in his "stirrups". One problem with this is that the Scriptures indicate that the period of the Judges was about 400 years (1400–1000 B.C.). Since the earliest known saddle-like equipment were fringed cloths or pads with breast pads and cruppers used by Assyrian cavalry around 700 BC, it would be impossible to have stirrups in Joshua's lifetime.
