Reading this edition’s market
Compare the same cover, printing and grade before setting a bid. A raw guide or a higher-grade price does not establish a slab’s value. Include selling fees, shipping and the depth of completed-sale evidence when assessing an exit price.
The table includes 9 guide observations and 0 catalog references. These are reference values, not guaranteed sale proceeds.
Graded population
CGC records 43 graded copies for Four Color #1043 (1959). Population is the number recorded by this grading source, not the total print run or all surviving copies.
Westward Whoa
The Stooges head west and unknowingly buy three outfits identical to that of the outlaw called the Black Phantom. They are mistaken for the Phantom in three different parts of town at the same time, driving the Sheriff to distraction. Larry gets a job in a bakery which leads to their capture of the Phantom.
Curly Joe answers a question on the phone from a TV quiz show and wins a car and trailer and half-interest in a gold mine in Alaska. The Stooges go to Alaska, where they help a pretty girl get her money back from the crook who sold her the other half-interest in the Stooges' mine. Despite being told the mine is worthless, the Stooges go to investigate and find their mine is occupied by a bear. Giving up any idea of mining, the Stooges enter a mountain-climbing contest to earn money to pay their way home.
